Words of Wisdom

I have several times had occasion to say that it never pays for our government to give false impressions to the American public with the view to enlisting its support for short-term purposes, because this always revenges itself later when it becomes necessary to overcome th wrong impressions one has created.

Oh, but as Kennan and other realists know, it does happen. A lot. All the time.
 
The political culture which enabled the United States to win World War II, develop the postwar security architecture and then get containment of the USSR underway no longer exists in Washington.

Democrats have no foreign policy vision of their own and their strategy appears to be to hope for failure in Iraq as a way to boost their electoral chances.

The president's team circles the wagons and imposes a faith-based litmus test so that opposition is equated with disloyalty.
